THE FALL OF SAIGON

Je m'étonne moi-même d'avoir autant attendu pour publier un titre d'Elliott Murphy, découvert en 1973 avec son premier album, AQUASHOW. Cet Américain voyageur, figurant dans FELLINI-ROMA, s'est établi un moment à Paris (où il vit peut-être encore ?) et j'ai assisté dans les années 2000 à un de ses concerts au New Morning, juste à côté de chez moi.

Quelque part entre Dylan et Bowie, en restant très approximatif, avec une une belle voix envoûtante et un son très particulier, Murphy est un chanteur à textes. Pour ce morceau sur "la chute de Saïgon", extrait de son album MURPH THE SURF, j'ai eu un mal fou à trouver les paroles, et je vous les livre sans traduction (le site étant italien, celle-ci était italienne).

A vous de jouer donc, de démêler le réel du fantasme dans cette évocation de l'affolement et du chaos qui ont marqué cette défaite militaire, avec le ballet des hélicoptères qu'on a pu voir au cinéma, et dont le vrombissement vient ici en forme de finale. La guerre (du Viet-Nam) qui se termine, et en parallèle la fin d'un amour, le tout avec une "énergie" rare - bien que je n'aime pas le terme, mais cette fois je n'en trouve pas d'autre...
